Local 1611 Union members can take advantage of health and pension benefits if they are part of a Collective Agreement. With one of the most comprehensive medical plans in the Building Trades, Local 1611 provides extensive health coverage and includes group MSP coverage, wage indemnity, extended health coverage including; prescription drugs, private hospital room, paramedic services, medical equipment, emergency medical coverage while you are out of the province, as well as extended dental care, life, accidental death and dismemberment benefits for covered members. In 2013 Local 1611 was able to implement the pay direct drug card, which meant the convenience of automatic prescription coverage.
According to Statistics Canada, “83% of Unionized employees are covered by either a pension plan or group plan compared to just 33% of non-Union workers.” The benefits of being a Local 1611 Union member include medical and a fully funded Pension Plan.
