What is the cost?
Training courses are part of your benefits of being a member of Local 1611. As long as you are a member in good standing, you can register for courses free of charge.

How do I register for a course?
You can either call the Training Plus Department at 604 538-5101 or toll free at 1 800-661-3001, or click here. Courses are offered on a first come, first serve basis.

Do you offer any online courses?
The Union offers Pipeline Construction Safety Training online. Call 604 538-5101 or toll free at 1 800- 661-3001 to register. You must have an e-mail address to register for this course.

Can I take an online course if I don’t have access to a computer?
If you live in the Lower Mainland, there is a computer lab at the Head Office that can be used by members. Otherwise, we recommend you ask to borrow a friend’s computer.

What other courses are eligible for 100% reimbursement by the Training Plus Department?
Reimbursement is offered for the following courses, provided that you are a member in good standing, you have successfully completed the course and you have contributing hours to the Training Plan within the last 12 months. A copy of the Certification and receipt will be required for reimbursement.

  • Blasting Certification
  • Traffic Control Re-certification

What other courses are eligible for 50% reimbursement by the Training Plus Department?
Reimbursement is offered for the following courses, provided that you are a member in good standing, you have successfully completed the course and you have contributing hours to the Training Plan within the last 12 months. A copy of the Certification and receipt will be required for reimbursement.

  • Level 2 or 3 First Aid
  • H2S Alive

* Must have a current Level 2 or 3 First Aid ticket to qualify for reimbursement for Construction Safety Officer and Construction Safety Coordinator.
